INDOOR pools might be legally allowed to open on Wednesday, but Ballarat residents hoping to get a swim will have to wait for infrastructure works wrapping up at the Wendouree centre.

The council will finish off works it undertook at the start of the second wave, and now aims to reopen the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre on November 9.

Relaxed laws which come into effect from 11.59pm on Tuesday allow for up to 20 people to use an indoor pool at a time. Outdoor pools have been able to reopen for the past few weeks since regional Victoria entered Step 3.

The City of Ballarat said this afternoon the entire centre would reopen at 6am on November 9.

“Services coming back… include indoor group fitness classes, balance play and gymnastics lessons, children’s swimming lessons, the health club, and recreational swimming,” it said in a statement.

“In line with government restrictions, classes will be limited so bookings will be essential.
“We appreciate your patience at this time as we work hard to make the centre an even better facility for our community and we look forward to welcoming everyone back again very soon.”
